Spur-of-the-Moment Dish Carnival!
This is way cool...Shannon at Rocks in My Dryer is having a Spur-of-the-Moment Dish Carnival! In the spirit of participation, I gladly present to you my dishes...
First are my everyday dishes. These are Pfaltzgraff Spring Song which was only out for a few years in the early 90's. I got mine at a factory outlet when Mr. Disty and I were engaged. I bought two four piece place settings and about 8 more plates which were conveniently on sale for $.99 each. I love this stuff. We've managed to keep most of it intact. I have bought some soup/salad bowls recently but I have no complaints.
Next are my Christmas dishes. These are also Pfaltzgraff, and the pattern is Winterberry. I started collecting this before we had children, and so I only have eight place settings and a couple of serving bowls. I love this too. It's very sturdy and DISH WASHABLE!
And last is my most favorite...this was my grandmother's china. Well, actually, my dad bought it for her, but she wasn't really the "china-using" type. When I got engaged, my grandmother gave it to me, still in the box my dad had used to ship it. He was in the Air National Guard in the 60's and was stationed in France. On one of his side trips to London, he bought her the entire set of Royal Doulton Reflection china. In addition to the place settings (I think there are twelve), I have one large serving platter, two medium serving platters, three vegetable bowls, one covered vegetable, a coffee pot, a tea pot, cream and sugar...well you get the idea. The coolest thing to me was that he paid something like $200 for it at the time. Now, a 5 piece place setting sells for $85. We do actually use this at least once a year. Sometimes more if I'm feeling nostalgic. I've even served pudding for dessert in these fancy bowls!

Very pretty dishes, especially the Royal Doulton! What a great deal your dad got on those; it's neat that you like them and are able to use them.
What a lovely dish collection - I really like the Royal Doulton also. Thank you for sharing your pretty dishes with us - Shannon did a fun thing with her dish-o-rama for this week.
I especially like the last one. If I weren't so incredibly busy I would post my dishes, I'm too tired.
