Memories

Misslionheart asked an interesting question on her blog.

"I want to know about your first ‘celebrity’ crush. You know, the one you fancied from that band, or that film, or who read the news, or who won Gold at the Olympics.

Did you have their pictures on your wall or in your locker?

Did you dress like them, style or colour your hair like them, follow them, meet them, marry them? (It could happen.)

Photos of THEM would be good, photos of YOU at the time you liked them would be even better."

Now, I was in high school in the 80's. Since my life has always pretty much revolved around music, for me, the crush was John Taylor of Duran Duran. He's the one on the far right, almost cut off.

Here, he's in the middle. Take a look at all that hair. It must have cost them thousands a year for all that product!

I never actually got to see them in concert, but I had lots of Duran Duran posters in my room, my locker at school and my bandroom locker. I think I even had a key chain with them on it. My friend Carla and I would get together and do the "air band" to "Rio" and "Save a Prayer", "Girls on Film", "Is There Something I Should Know?" ...the list goes on and on.

Remember their bizarre videos? "Is There Something I Should Know" was one of my favorite videos (this was the 80's when they actually showed videos, not stupid spring break kids, all the time). It has that weird red ball while everything else is in black and white. Also, watching Simon dance reminds me of Elaine Benes from Seinfeld!

And, OH YEAH, we dressed like them! Shoulder pads for DAYS! Poofy pants and little boots...we had it goin on!

I'm not sure I could have done my hair like his...it defied gravity!

Okay, now it's your turn...Who was your celebrity crush?
