Updates

Our trip to North Carolina was wonderful. We kept the fireplace going most all day long, ate WAAAY too much, took naps, talked and watched Bama beat LSU. It was a great weekend!

Ever since then, though, I've been running crazy. I won't bore you with the details, but suffice it to say that something has to go, and soon. I'm not doing anything well at this point, including being a good mother to my children.

I'm so glad Thanksgiving is tomorrow. I love the homey atmosphere around on that day. We will go to my sister's house around 3:00 and hang out for a while before stuffing ourselves around 5:00. Then we'll repeat the process on Friday with Mr. Disty's family.

In reflecting back over the month of November, I'd like to let you know a few things I am 100% positive about:

1. Husbands and wives need a little time away from the kids every once in a while.

2. It is possible to work on a Diary of Saul project and Beowulf flap book at the same time and not confuse the two.

3. Almighty God has the heart of the king (president) in His hand.

4. God's love endures forever; it never fails

5. He will never leave us or abandon us

6. God is good all the time

A little getaway

Back in the spring, our church started a new couples ministry called Nucleus. We are in a group of probably 8 couples and we meet at the church once a month. We also try to get together one other time a month. We've eaten at a pizza place, had a Memorial Day social at someones house, and watched the Alabama-Tennessee game among other things. But next weekend...we will have our Nucleus get together in...North Carolina.

That's right...Mr. Disty and I and two other couples are headed for the mountains for 4 days! WITH NO KIDS! WOO HOO! I can't wait.

The guys are going to do some fly fishing in the rivers around our cabin, and the girls, well...I don't really care what we do! If we stay in our jammies and watch chick flicks all day, that would be just fine with me!

I think the last time Mr. Disty and I got away alone was when Buster was about nine months old. We went to our favorite B&B and had a great, quiet weekend, but it is time for some time away!
